Two weeks old

Who are you? face
Evie is changing so fast! She is a really good baby but this week she has starting to figure out some of her likes and dislikes.  She cries when she is about to poop and unfortunately I have to watch and encourage her to let it out for her to stop crying.  She loves music and she will lay with her eye's wide open and listen to all kinds of music till it puts her to sleep.  She is sleeping three and four hours between feedings at night, but is getting better at going right back to sleep after she eats.   She has several wake times throughout the day and loves to just look at Travis and I's face.   She smiles a lot when waking up for a nap and I am hoping that means she will take after me instead of Travis.  She also started small bouts of laughter when she wakes up.  This is a real treat for me and I haven't been able to record it yet but I will keep trying.  The other new thing is she is starting to take the pacifier.  She can't keep it in her mouth for very long without spitting it out but she is now opening her mouth when she sees it.  Travis leaves for the field tomorrow so it will be just Guppy and me for about a week and a half.  I am sad and scared because Travis really helps me so much and I love his company!  Plus she is growing so fast right now and I hate for him to miss anything! I still have to go into the hospital several times a week because of my blood pressure.  It is slowly coming down with the medication.   I have a lot of swelling still and sometimes at the end of the day my ankles are as big as when I was pregnant.  Other than that though I feel great and really have enjoyed going on walks with Evie and the dogs.
I don't think I knew how much I would love being a mom, but Evie has stolen my heart! Whenever I am exhausted or a little crabby just looking at her sleeping makes it completely worth it.  I love getting to know her and already can tell differences between her cries and when she is fussing am getting really good at guessing on the first time what she wants.  I love to be the one that can comfort her and feed her.

Favorite Daddy Daughter Moments
Travis was holding Evie and he was just talking to her about how much he loved her and that he really wanted her to be a good girl.  Then all of the sudden he said, "I will spank you in front of your friends" I just started laughing and said I hope he never had to do that. He explained to her that would only be worst case scenario.  Also I love when Travis changes a really poopie diaper and he explains how bad it is by how many wipes he has to use.

 Evalynn

Katie is sure that Evalynn looks exactly like I did as a baby. After looking at our baby pictures she is pretty right; although, Evie has the shape of Katie's head more than mine. Please put in your insight into what Evie got from whom.

Evie's First Photo Shoot

This blanket was the one Chicky (Susan Park) made for Evie
I love this one
and this one:)

She loves being held by Travis
A friend of mine is starting a photo business and has never shot a newborn so she tried on Evie for the first time.  It went really well and we got some great pictures.  Evie did pee on the couch but it was worth it! This was when she was less than a weeks old and hadn't packed the pounds on yet.

Newborn Pictures

We had one of our friends who is starting a photography business come over and take some newborn photos. I couldn't resist taking a few as we were getting them done. Evalynn was really good during the photos and she didn't poop on any of the blankets or coaches. She also slept through most of the photos which made it really easy to change blankets, backdrops, and positions. When we get the real photos from the photographer then we will post those so you can see those too! They look like they are going to be really good.

First Bible Study and Moby Wrap

We took Evalynn to our Thursday night Bible study at Pud's house the Thursday after she was born. Everyone in the Bible study had been praying for Katie and I to get pregnant after I got back from the deployment, and were there with us through the pregnancy so they all feel like grandparents to little Evie. We had a great time at Bible study, and Katie's parents were still in town so they got to go with us and meet everyone.

Mary holding Evalynn. Evalynn didn't mind getting handed around, she slept through almost the whole Bible study.
The Bible study in Pud's living room. Jesus, George, and Pud are sitting at the table. Katie is talking to Zulma in the background while Robert is talking to Zulmarie (Zulma and Jesus' daughter).
Watson is desperate for attention and curled up in Katie's hair while she took a quick nap between feedings on the couch
Charlie uses the boppie more than we do. He takes naps on it downstairs as his new favorite bed location.
Evie likes the car seat when we go on walks or ride in the car. It puts her to sleep
Evie's first walk! She did great and slept through the whole thing...but she did smile in her sleep so she must have been enjoying it.
 Evie before church this Sunday
The moby wrap comes in handy because you can put her in there and have your hands free to do housework.

Charlie loves to be snuggled up in the moby wrap!

Evalynn loves to sleep on your chest. She loves Katie's chest the best though...
Prepare for the blog to be filled with a lot of pictures of Evalynn that Katie has taken on her phone. A lot of these pictures are really good! This post has a few of them, but I will upload a lot more.
