Everyone was more than excited to spend time in the sun and a dip in the pool. It was so much fun to take the kids in the pool and see them slowly get more comfortable swimming. We all laid out to see who could look more like brown sugar. Needless to say it was very relaxing and all of us enjoyed spending time together.
We all got there later in the evening. We were all delighted to see the sweet set up! It was a large home with our own personal view! It was the start to an unforgettable week!
Our 4th of July was jammed packed. Friday night we had a neighborhood BBQ with some friends! It was great food and a fun night of games. We also went to a concert from Trace Akins who did a free show for the base. After the concert and fair food we stayed and watched the fireworks! On the actual 4th we went to a friends BBQ where we had food, games and more fireworks. In Louisiana there are no firework laws so believe me when I say it was quite a show, and I can see why so many states have laws about fireworks. It was Travis and I's first 4th of July together and I think we will always remember it!!
Travis and I have had quite a pick up in our weekly schedule! Travis has started his new job as a platoon leader two weeks ago. I was hoping it would allow him to be home at a more reasonable hour but with all the extra responsibilities he has longer and longer days. Meanwhile at my work I have finally reached a point where I started taking piggy back call. It has significantly increased my work hours. On my first week of call I clocked in almost 80 hours. I am really starting to enjoy my job and learning a ton still every day, but it is nice to not always be in the dark. Travis I think is enjoying his job a lot more too! He really loves his Soldiers and is excited to train with them before his deployment. Fort Polk is starting to feel more like home, but then again anywhere I am with Travis is home!
Gordon and Susan came to visit, or as our kids know them as (Gigo and Chicky). Henry and Charlie had so much fun while there were here. Henry and Charlie both agreed that their favorite part was going to Hodges Gardens about 30 minutes from home. It was beautiful and we all loved walking around the gardens admiring the scenery. We also went the the finest restaurant in town Brooker Lewis and left with happy full tummies! Travis and Gordon spent most of their time watching the kids and playing war games. Susan and I didn't mind we spent one day putting pots together for my backyard. I am happy to day none of my plants have died but are growing very quickly and make my backyard a sweet retreat! We so honored to have guest here in Fort Polk and hope more family gets to come visit our home! Believe me you won't regret it!
Travis took Henry and Charlie for a run and the pavement got to Henry and cut his paws. Travis and I did our best to bandage him up but he still pouted. You'll be happy to know that he has fully recovered and is running again!
After painting our bedroom Henry decided to walk in the paint. Therefore a good bath was in order. At the end of the bath I had fun dressing Henry up with the towel. It is amazing what he lets me do to him!
