Making Martha Stewart Proud

I think it is only fitting that I explain the importance of Martha Stewart in my life. Although she is not a motherly figure I would strive to be, her organizational, creative and her cooking skills are ones I am envious of! I know that probably half the ideas she has are not her own, but a meek employee's who is just trying to get their ideas out there. Nether the less Martha Stewart is the "mother" of America while Opera is our "grandma." Both have been equally influential in our every day American lives. I grew up watching Martha turn a rubber band into the most beautiful Easter egg extravaganza. That is why this week turned into bake my way into becoming more like Martha Stewart. That and the fact that Travis politely brought up that I NEVER cook anymore. He is unfortunately correct! Every since I started work a mere month ago my meal making has been...well...pathetic. So my mission of making myself more like Martha began in high gear.

First I searched the web looking for easy yet delicious meals to win the heart of my husband. I worked on the grocery list and went and bought all the groceries. All new recipes....this could be a week of good eating or a lot of ordering pizza!!!

Monday was home made chicken pot pies with pears and a homemade berry cobbler. I am happy to say it was delicious!!! Martha would have been proud and who knows my potpie could have made it into one of her magazines! Travis was VERY happy!!
Tuesday: Greek Pasta Salad with an appetizer of spinach artichoke dip:) ...Again Travis was VERY happy!
Wednesday: Pork roast with a twist. It was a pork that melted in your mouth with hearty vegetables to top it off. Travis was happy!
Thursday: Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken over a bake potato! It was a success...and Travis was happy!!

Friday we are going out to a Hail and Fair well with the Army so I get the night off! I have loved cooking and watching Travis's face when he takes the first bit and when he asked for seconds!! My mission has been a success and Martha and me have a little more in common:)

My Job

Thanks to Lauren and Jeff they have inspired me to write about what I love about my job:

1. First I LOVE the people I work with. Being a newer nurse they have all taken me under their wings and set me up to succeed every time.

2. I am learning so much every day which will help me be a better nurse.

3. I have found ways to help our work environment and have been told "Thanks!"

4. Oh yeah....I save lives :) Although today I did help (some) to save a child!

5. I love working with patients that call me Ma'm and hearing so much southern accent that by the end of the day I am talking with a little twang.

6. I love that everyone laughs and we have a good time!

7. I love that we are not so swampt that I don't turn into a sweaty mess, but have time to discuss patient's problems and learn. Oh and I get to go home early :)

8. I love wearing cute scrubs!

9. I love getting off in the mid-afternoon so I can start errands or dinner for my husband!

10. I love waking up in the morning with Travis, making us breakfast and kissing each other goodbye...best way to start my day!!!

Now Travis's turn:

What Travis's like about his job:

1. "I like the people I work with.
2. I like the fact that working out is part of my job because it makes me sexier and I get paid to do it.
3. I like serving my country.
...I think I will like more when I figure out what I am supposed to be doing :)"
