Independence Day

Pre-party

They are ready for guest

Our 4th of July was jammed packed. Friday night we had a neighborhood BBQ with some friends! It was great food and a fun night of games. We also went to a concert from Trace Akins who did a free show for the base. After the concert and fair food we stayed and watched the fireworks! On the actual 4th we went to a friends BBQ where we had food, games and more fireworks. In Louisiana there are no firework laws so believe me when I say it was quite a show, and I can see why so many states have laws about fireworks. It was Travis and I's first 4th of July together and I think we will always remember it!!

  1. Love the new table and chairs....they seem to fit very well in your eating area and now you can seat more people at your table!

  2. Trace Akins is one of my favorite singers..lucky you guys. Its so fun to read your posts Katie. What a fun and exciting new life you have found with Travis and Louisiana. Isn't it fun to see new things, meet new people, and experience a new place. Truly opens up your heart and eyes to other ways of life. Keep having fun creating your life with Travis....sounds like thats what makes you the happiest! Wish we could come and visit sometime...have never been to the south and it sounds like a really interesting place. Hugs...

  3. Fort Polk's "fests" have gotten better every year. When I heard about Trace Adkins this year, I was sorry that we had to move away before that weekend.
Continue to get to know your surroundings and especially the people outside the post; some of the nicest ones around are outside the gate.
Our 5 years down there were wonderful and we would willingly go back based on the Army's needs...
