We got on the roads late and had originally thought we would spend that night in Dallas and take another day to get to our new home, Fort Polk. This of course was the logical plan because we didn't want to get to Fort Polk late and be in an unfurnished home and sleep on the floor. However once we felt the wind in our hair and the challenge taunting us we forgot all logic and reason and were committed to making it to Fort Polk that night (we are still young and foolish). We took the smaller highways, which in Texas you still go 70mph on..love that! We saw a lot of the country side and as the day wore on we could feel the anticipation and excitement build as each mile drew us closer to our new home.
