Road Kill Game

"Dead"=5 points

Being on the road can do funny things to you. First it makes every part of your body softer and squishy. As scary as that is, there is something far worse! The silence and the lack of things for your brain to do! Therefore you find your mind going to far off places you wish it would not go. There are a few reasons you try to avoid this day dreaming. One; my mind especially, is a scary place and I should never be unsupervised when using it. Two; when your mind wonders so does your driving on the road and lastly, three you are just board and your brain is begging for something to focus on.
Due to these hazardous conditions I started a game called Road Kill Count. We started it back in California, once all the talk radio stations had fizzled out for Travis. This is how the game goes. As you drive you look for road kill. If you spot a road kill and name the animal correctly you get (X) amount of points. If you name the animal wrong or it wasn't an animal but trash instead you are deducted (X) amount of points. Because many states didn't have a lot of road kill and we found in many cases it was feast or famine, we added in the rule that live animals count as well going from the middle median to the fence that usually ran along the right side of the road. Here is how we gave points:

Birds, squirrels, raccoons, rabbits (small furry or feathery things)= 5 points dead or alive

If you spot road kill that is so mangled you can not determine what it's original species was, you say "dead"= 5 points dead

Dogs or cats (domestic animals)=10 points dead or alive

Coyotes, armadillos, alligators...etc (novelty or wild animals)= 15 points dead or alive

Deer= 50 points dead or alive

Humans= 100 points dead or alive

Also it is important to note that you must be the first to say "dead" or what animal it is in order to receive the points. You can not receive points by being the first one to point at it, it must be named.

As we drove from state to state Texas took the cake for road kill!!! It got really exciting with all the dead deer on the road! It was a close game but I won with 355 and Travis at 325. It is a great game, but probably teen rated:)
